FAQ
What can I expect on my first session of massage?

You will be asked to fill out a health intake form regarding your health history, injuries and/or stress levels.  The therapist will review this form with you, ask what your expectations are for the session and will make recommendations on the appropriate form of massage.

The therapist will then step out of the room while you undress and get under the sheets on the table.  You may take off as much clothing as you are comfortable with.  Some clients prefer to remove all of their clothing, while other prefer to wear underwear or shorts.  The breast and genitals areas are always draped during a session.

The therapist will then knock before entering the room to be sure that you are ready.

What type of draping do you use?

For a massage we drape with sheets.  We follow the guidelines set by the North Carolina Board of Massage that states breast and genital areas are always draped.

If you request, or the therapist recommends work on your buttock muscles (not uncommon for people with low back or leg pain), we only undrape one side at a time.

If you are hot natured, we can undrape your feet or lower legs to keep you cooler.

For Structural Integration draping is not used due to the fact that the client wears either their underwear, shorts or two piece bathing suit.  The reason is that the client will be getting on and off the table during the session in order for the therapist to re-evaluate postural changes.

Do you accept walk in clients?

No, sessions are by appointment only.  Please call Structural Wisdom at (919)412-0167 to schedule.  If you are interested in a specific day or time, we recommend scheduling at least a week in advance.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.  If less than 24 hours notice is given, you will be responsible for the cost of the session, or sending someone else in your place.

What type of payments do you accept?

We accept cash, check, visa and mastercard.

We do not accept out of state checks.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes

Are there reasons that I should not receive a massage?

Yes.

  • High blood pressure that is not under control by diet or medication

  • Fever

  • Pregnancy complications may require an MD prescription

  • Areas with a rash, open sores or bruises will be avoided

  • Recent surgeries should be disclosed at the time of scheduling as massage may not be indicated or physician approval may be required.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not bill directly to insurance, payment is due at time of service. If your insurance company pays for massage, we will give you a receipt to submit with your claim form.  If they require the therapists notes, please inform the therapist before the session begins.
